Area residents who wished to provide a blueprint for their own destiny, set by those who were most affected by local government decisions, created the City of Wildwood. This desire led to a five-year incorporation effort created, led, and funded by residents only, with challenges throughout its existence.

The Missouri Supreme Court allowed the creators of this community to place the question of creating a new city before the residents of the unincorporated portion of St. Louis county, which was overwhelmingly approved by the voters. On September 1, 1995, Wildwood incorporated and the community began its journey to destiny.

Wildwood is near Interstate 109, intersecting I-44 for travel downtown. Manchester Road connects Wildwood with surrounding neighborhoods Eureka, Ballwin, and Chesterfield.

As the name might suggest, Wildwood is the sort of town where residents and locals take advantage of the outdoors. A big draw is the new Wildwood Town Center, an outdoor walkable shopping district.

Wildwood is a place where people seek active entertainment. In addition to the parks and trails in the neighborhood, the area features Babler state park, Hidden Valley Ski Resort, and Six Flags St. Louis.

Wildwood is part of the Rockwood and Meramec Valley R-III school districts. The neighborhood also houses the Wildwood Campus of St. Louis Community College system.

Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park | John and Henry Babler dedicated this park in memory of their brother, Edmund. The park includes camping facilities, Civilian Conversation Corps architecture, and hiking, bicycling and equestrian trials.

Rockwoods Reservation | Containing more than 12 miles of hiking trails, including a 0.10-mile disabled-accessible wildlife-habitat trial, demonstration areas, and a conversation education center.

Greensfelder County Park | This parks contains shaded trails, horse boarding, equestrian and group camping, hayrides, trails, nature learning center, picnic sites and shelters, playground and trim orienteering course. 

Rockwoods Range | The 1,442-acre range life in the Ozark border. The area is mostly forested, but glades and other natural communities also occur. Springs, limestone rock outcrops, and sinkholes are common on the area. Rockwoods Range is accessible via the three multi-use trails or the Green Rock hiking trail.
